Choosing business center equipment is an important decision for any hotel. While technology and costs are important to consider, going with the right company is just as important to streamline the process and leave you satisfied long after the equipment has been set up. As a company committed to providing value-added services, our mission is to help your hotel make informed decisions that will save time, money, and headaches down the road. Here are nine questions to ask before signing the dotted line.
(more…)MARKHAM, Ontario — For decades, hoteliers have been challenged with protecting their hotel assets from threats, including fraudulent chargeback claims and guests presenting false identification at check-in. Add to that a climate of social unrest and a global health crisis, and today’s hotel operators are finding themselves desperate for digital tools that will boost guest and staff security. TTI Technologies’ Scan2PMS solution, when combined with Maestro’s property-management system, is better preparing hotel operators for reopening. Via the integrated solution, guests can self-scan their Drivers’ Licenses and Passports into a sleek, portable device at the front desk, and instantly their photo, name, address, nationality, and date of birth is uploaded to Maestro. With this information on file, hoteliers can refute false chargeback claims and use the captured data for future marketing. More importantly, the contactless service gives guests peace of mind that no one is handling their IDs and that the hotel — and law enforcement, if needed — has accurate information on each person registered.
“Scan2PMS is playing an important part in contactless guest check-in today,” said Warren Dehan, Maestro president. “With more travelers demanding touchless guest services, hoteliers are finding it easy to take the TTI scanning solution out from behind the front desk and make it accessible to guests so they can scan IDs on their own at registration. It’s a simple transition that is making everyone feel safer and it places guests more in control of their experiences. Not only does Scan2PMS remove human error in the data entry process by capturing the data directly from the ID and importing it to our PMS. It is also fast-tracking registration and eliminates the need for front desk attendants to physically touch guests’ belongings. Maestro and TTI Technologies are putting more distance between guests and staff for a safer experience while heightening asset security.”
The Grand Resort in Warren, Ohio, is one of many Maestro + Scan2PMS users. General Manager Kelli Denman said the check-in process at front desk registration is much improved due to the Maestro/Scan2PMS integration. She also said guest charge-back claims with the hotel’s credit-card processor are nearly non-existent.
“The automatic data capture feature of Scan2PMS is providing an unprecedented level of protection for our hotel,” Denman said. “With this solution integrated to Maestro, it is doing so much more than just scanning and storing IDs. Today more than ever we are looking for new ways to reduce costs and add more touchless guest services. Maestro and TTI let us do both, including the ability to protect guests when someone says they lost a room key. We can quickly compare the guest requesting a new key with the photo on file associated with the room. And, because the scanners are compact and portable, we can make them accessible to guests for self-check-in. This combo is a real game changer for hotel operations.”
Town Inn Suites, a newly renovated hotel in downtown Toronto, is also seeing benefits from the joint technology deployment. General Manager Maged Girges said he had been searching for an efficient and reliable scanning solution to streamline the guest ID process. Surprisingly, Girges said he got more than he hoped for.
“We initially chose TTI Technologies’ Scan2PMS solution to reduce check-in time for guests,” Girges said. “But operating through a pandemic, we find it is helping us in many other ways. First, it’s providing a personalized, welcoming service that is safe and effective. Guests appreciate being able to scan their own Drivers’ Licenses or Passports, and staff appreciates not having to take the IDs and photocopy them in the back room. This really speeds up check-in. As GM, I appreciate the time, labor savings, and the ability for our marketing team to use the data — like birth date — to stay in touch with our guests after their stay. Also, by capturing and validating guest information, it removes the possibility for chargebacks.
This simple tool, when tied to Maestro, enhances security and builds loyalty,” he said. “Being able to offer an enhanced and contactless guest check-in greatly adds to the stay experience. When travel resumes, we want to be doing everything possible to differentiate our hotel from others in the local urban market. Scan2PMS integrated to Maestro will help make that happen more quickly and give us an edge.”

The hotel industry has undergone significant transformations over the years, with technology significantly enhancing the overall guest experience.
One such innovation that has revolutionized the hospitality industry is the use of tablets to provide guests with a seamless experience.
Tablets have transformed the way guests interact with hotels, and the benefits are numerous, including improved guest satisfaction, increased revenue, and enhanced operational efficiency.
Has your hotel added tablets to the business center yet?
In the world of technology, sometimes getting swept up in the new and shiny can be easy. Hotels are attempting to reimagine their hotel business center into a guest enhancement tool that acts as a digital concierge. With that comes new hardware and software challenges.
If you are considering upgrading your current business center hardware to utilize a tablet, here are some pros and cons of hotels using tablets that you should consider before making your decision.
Implementing tablet technology in hotels requires careful planning and execution. Here are some best practices for implementing tablet technology in hotels:
Define Goals
Hotels must define their goals for implementing tablet technology, including what services and amenities they plan to offer through the tablets and how they plan to use the data collected from the tablets.
Choose the Right Technology
Hotels must choose the right technology for their needs, including the type of tablet and the software that will be used to manage the tablets.
Train Staff
Hotels must ensure that their staff is trained to use the tablets effectively, including how to troubleshoot issues with the tablets and how to use the data collected from the tablets to offer personalized guest experiences.
The use of tablets in hotels is likely to continue to grow in the future, with new innovations and technologies being developed to enhance the guest experience. Here are some future trends in tablet technology for the hotel industry:
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is likely to play an increasingly important role in the use of tablets in hotels. AI can be used to analyze guest data and offer personalized recommendations and promotions to guests.
Virtual Reality
Virtual reality (VR) is another technology that is likely to become more prevalent in the use of tablets in hotels. VR can be used to provide guests with immersive experiences, such as virtual tours of local attractions.
Augmented Reality
Augmented reality (AR) is also likely to become more prevalent in the use of tablets in hotels. AR can be used to provide guests with information about local attractions and events, enhancing their overall experience.
Tablets have revolutionized how hotels offer guests services, providing personalized experiences, increasing revenue, and enhancing operational efficiency. However, implementing tablet technology in hotels can be challenging, and hotels must take steps to ensure they have partnered with the right hotel technology company so they can rest assured guest data is protected and that their staff is trained to use the tablets effectively. With the continued development of new technologies, the use of tablets in hotels is likely to continue to grow, providing guests with even more personalized and immersive experiences.
If you are traveling and need access to a printer, many hotels offer printing services at the front desk or in business solution centers. With more and more people bringing tablets and other mobile devices with them when traveling, especially for business, access to secure, reliable mobile and cloud-based printing is a hotel necessity.
Whether you need to print documents for a meeting, an itinerary, or even a boarding pass, hotels usually have designated printers for guests. Cloud-based, public printing solutions such as ePRINTit, offer public printer services that allow hotel guests to print and pay on the go for all documents or use free printing at the hotel, included in the price of the stay.
Cloud-based printing enables guests to print directly from their mobile device (laptop, smartphone, tablet) to designated printers at a specific location (ie: a hotel).
Guests can print by emailing documents to the printer’s unique email address, uploading documents to a web printing portal via URL, or by using one of the mobile printing apps available for iOS and Android devices without having to download and install printer drivers or connecting to the network. Hotels offering cloud-based printing also use a managed service in the business center where the printer is on the same network.
ePRINTit uses a secure release code system to keep all documents private.
After a document is sent for printing, a release code is sent back to the user, which they use to release their documents. This can leave the guest at ease if they used managed services, as the info printed will be secure and encrypted. Documents not released are never printed, helping to eliminate paper waste and your guest’s security.
Hotel guests often attempt to print something but cannot find the wireless printer via their wi-fi. A guest will not be able to see a printer from their mobile device due to security reasons.
Ask the front desk to know if a hotel offers secure cloud-based printing services. Before arriving at the hotel, you can download the ePRINTit app. You can see which hotels participate in the mobile printing program through the app.
